Everyone associated with the Táin March Festival is deeply saddened to learn of the recent passing of Fred Walker from Ballymanus.
Fred, originally from Yorkshire, was the Táin March’s leading contact in Ballymanus since the festival expanded all the way from Roscommon to Louth in 2015.
He died peacefully on Monday 27th March following a short illness in the loving care of his family and the staff of the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar.
Fred, who was 70 years old, had led a very colourful life and had several different occupations but without doubt he was best known for his work as a homeopath.
He was also actively involved in community life and was a member of a number of groups in the Castlepollard and Westmeath area. Our thoughts are with his friends and family.
Fred’s remains reposed at his home in Ballymanus on Thursday 30th March before being taken to Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan on Friday 31st March for his cremation ceremony.
May he rest in peace.
